YICL members receive regular updates via the YICL newsletter. Our newsletter is distributed to all members, keeping them apprised of major issues and relevant news. Members also have the possibility to have their own work published in the newsletter.

Thank you to everyone who joined this session that discussed how open-source intelligence (OSINT) and digital evidence are transforming the investigation and prosecution of international crimes.
A huge thank you to our two excellent speakers:
– Mr. Nikolas Katsimpras., Lecturer in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution at Columbia University, who walked us through the fundamentals of OSINT.
– Prof. Michael Tiu, Jr., Assistant Professor at the University of the Philippines, who explored how OSINT is being used in international criminal investigations, including its role in various cases before the ICC.
Together, they gave our audience a strong academic and practical understanding of the use of OSINT in ICL, equipping our members with the skills and knowledge for where the field is heading.

Judge Gillou served as Pre-Trial Judge at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers, Chef de Cabinet to the President of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, Liaison Prosecutor at the U.S. Department of Justice, and the French Ministry of Justice. He began his career as an investigative judge.
He holds a Master’s degree in International and European Criminal Law from Sorbonne Université and graduated from the French National School for the Judiciary.

YICL Announces Event Series on Prosecuting Heads of State for International Crimes
The Association of Young International Criminal Lawyers (YICL) is delighted to announce its upcoming event series on “Prosecuting Heads of State for International Crimes”, starting this September. This series will bring together leading scholars and practitioners to reflect on some of the most pressing debates in international criminal law: the scope of immunities, the challenges of prosecuting sitting and former heads of state, and the broader question of accountability for grave international crimes.
Over the course of the upcoming months, YICL will host distinguished speakers who will share their perspectives on different aspects of head-of-state prosecutions across history and jurisdictions. Confirmed events include:
